Abstract

In September 2021, Central Java experienced Deflation of -0.10 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.00. Of the six CPI cities in Central Java, four cities experienced deflation and two cities experienced inflation.

The main cause of deflation in Central Java in September 2021 was the decline in the prices of chicken eggs, shallots, red chilies, cayenne peppers, and gold jewelry. The main barriers to deflation in Central Java were the increase in the prices of academies/universities, cooking oil, filtered kretek cigarettes, air transportation, and tempeh.

The calendar year inflation rate in September 2021 was 0.46 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2021 to September 2020) was 1.28 percent.
