DEVELOPMENT OF CONSUMER/INFLATION PRICE INDEX IN SEMARANG REGENCY JANUARY 2018 INFLATION 0.79 PERCENT

·        In January 2018 in Kabupaten Semarang there was an inflation of 0.79 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 128.84. Inflation in January 2018 was higher compared to December 2017 which experienced inflation of 0.69 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 127.84.

·        Inflation was attributable to price increases as indicated by rising index, occurred in the foodstuff category by 2.53 percent followed by housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.83 percent; clothing by 0.54 percent and education, recreation and sports by 0.01 percent. In the processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco, there was a decrease of 0.16 percent. While the health group and transportation, communication and financial services group was relatively stable or did not experience an increase or decrease in index.

·        The main cause of inflation in Semarang regency in January 2018 is the rising prices of rice, red pepper (criting), chicken meat, household fuel and cooking oil.

·        Commodities that withstood the inflation rate in Semarang regency in January 2018 were the decline in the price of eggs, milkfish, wet shrimp, squid and onion.

·        The calendar year inflation rate (January 2018 to December 2017) is 0.79 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2018 to January 2017) in Semarang is 3.31 percent
