BPS Participates in Simultaneous Garlic Planting

The movement to maintain food security is again realized through concrete steps at the regional level of Semarang Regency by cultivating garlic as a food commodity as well as a source of income for the community. Wednesday (19/8/2026) Head of BPS-Statistics Semarang Regency, Nur Ihklas participated in the simultaneous garlic planting event held by the Semarang Police in Batur Village, Getasan District.

The planting led by the Semarang Police Chief, AKBP Heru Dwi Purnomo was carried out on an agricultural land covering an area of approximately one hectare. The ranks of the main officials of the Semarang Police, elements of the Semarang Regency Forkopimda and related agencies also participated in the planting process.

A total of about seven quintals of seedlings were prepared for the land. With a cultivation period estimated to reach four months, the harvest is targeted to take place in December 2026.

Farmers are an important part of the planting process until they enter the harvest period, where the harvest is expected to be proof that collaboration between the government and farmers can produce productive activities that support food security while opening up opportunities for improving the welfare of the community.
