Follow-up of Price Development Index (IPH)

Monday, November 20 2023, the Head of Statistics of Semarang Regency held an audience with the Regional Secretary and the Semarang Regency TPID staff to discuss steps and follow-up to the results of the weekly Price Development Index (IPH) report. IPH is a leading indicator or proxy indicator of inflation which is sourced from daily price monitoring data carried out by the Department of Cooperatives, Micro Enterprises, Industry and Trade of Semarang Regency.

As a result of the hearing, a decision was taken to control the prices of several commodities which experienced very high price increases, including red chilies, cayenne peppers and bananas. These include providing stock of goods, distribution to markets, as well as intense reporting on price developments related to the commodity in question. In the long term, local production will be increased to anticipate needs if there is a stock shortage due to climate or weather or other factors.
